Attorney Jill Rynkowski Doyle provides services as a divorce mediator or legal representation as an attorney when you participate in a mediation process. She believes there are many benefits of mediation, including lower costs, less time, reduced stress on your family, increased privacy, and more control.
Divorce is often a stressful experience. The legal proceedings can become adversarial and lead you to feel a lack of control over the outcome. Mediation is a process which puts the control back into your hands and helps you come to an agreement. Nobody understands your needs and your family’s needs better than you do.
Mediation begins with an introductory meeting that provides a detailed review of the process. The meeting also includes discussion about whether you and your spouse are good candidates for mediation.
If everyone agrees to move forward, you can expect to meet for four to eight mediation sessions of one to two hours each. The sessions are structured to help you come to an agreement regarding property division, spousal support, child custody, and child support. After you reach an agreement on all issues, your decisions are memorialized.
More details about the process are available on the Mediation FAQ page.
